During the month of April, many employment components were released with mixed outcomes. Some are positive and other are weak. Thus, today’s Jobs Report is a very close call. However, ten out of sixteen employment component indices came in with positive recovery, which makes the chances for a better report more likely. Arguments For a Better Jobs Report Jobless Claims declined to the lowest level in 15 years.Continuing Claims fell to the lowest level since 2000.ISM Milwaukee...

The UK’s current elections is perhaps the most uncertain on record. GBP trends have also been uncertain throughout this period because of both the elections and the American economic releases. We believe that there are only two possible scenarios: The first scenario is that David Cameron stays. To secure that, a deal should be closed between the conservatives, UKIP, Liberal Democrats and the Democratic Unionist. A minimum of 323 votes in the parliament are needed to pass the...

Today all eyes are on the US Jobs Report which is seen as a key for the Federal Reserve’s potential rate hike in June’s meeting. However, there are many factors to consider in this report because the recent developments in the US economy are not in line with the Federal Reserve’s plan. In this special report and as always, we included a wider range of employment components for the month of March and compared them to figures from previous months. Unfortunately, the sentiment is not positive...

It is time to reassess the US economy after the end of QE by the Federal Reserve in October. We were surprised that the Fed had ended QE this year. However, economic releases for month of November and December suggest that the US economy is beginning to feel some pain without the Federal Reserve's support.  Here we review the recent economic releases of December. The majority of datasets came in with a shocking decline or weaker than expected estimates, and this proves that the US...

Since the beginning of the year, the Federal Reserve has been tapering QE without any hint of a policy change. However, the Fed has always kept using the following phases: “tapering is data dependent” and/or “tapering will continue if outlook holds”. We believe that the Federal Reserve left these sentences in for a reason. It means that if anything happens which clearly shows that the economy is not recovering the Fed has the option to change direction.  Recent economic releases from...

Today is one of the biggest days for the US economy of this year, not because of the FOMC decision or the ADP Non-Farm Employment Change, but because that the GDP figures will be released for the second quarter of 2014. This number will be the key for the markets, and for the Fed and it could be the game changer that we have been warning about.  If the GDP gets any worse the Fed may need to look again at its tapering and quantitative easing strategy. Bad Weather in...

US Recovery Remains Uncertain In the past few weeks a number of economic datasets for the US economy have raised red flags and fears that the growth target for the year is not going to be met.  Since the beginning of spring 63% of economic releases have come in with either negative numbers or lower than expected readings – some missing the forecasts by large margins. Of the 37% of positive releases, most showed only minor improvements. US GDP Contracted by -1%...
